The core structural and user-facing hurdles included:
Accessibility & Time Constraints: Busy demographics lacked the bandwidth to visit physical markets during operating hours.
Price Transparency: Unfixed pricing at market stalls eroded consumer trust.
Lack of Digital Infrastructure: Building a complete mobile ecosystem from scratch with no prior online catalog, payment gateway, or delivery workflow.
Design Challenge: “How might we design a mobile shopping experience that gives time-constrained Sudanese consumers confident, frictionless access to Five Fashion’s handcrafted leather products — without sacrificing the trust and tactile reassurance of an in-person purchase?”

User Interviews & Empathy Mapping: Confirmed time constraints as a primary barrier while uncovering additional pain points such as unstable pricing, inconsistent quality in physical markets, and the challenge of buying leather sight-unseen.
User Persona: Modeled around a 38-year-old surveyor engineer whose demanding schedule leaves zero time for market visits, emphasizing the need for guaranteed quality and fast delivery.
Competitive Analysis: Evaluated competitors (AfroLeather, Craft Store, and Orchide Craft), confirming that establishing a native mobile app would give Five Fashion an unmatched channel advantage.

Information Architecture & Wireframes: Progressed from hand-sketched paper wireframes to structured digital layouts covering the entire user journey (Homepage, Product Details, Cart, Multi-step Checkout, Secure Payment options with OTP verification, Order Success, and Profile/Sidebar navigation).
Rich Product Discovery: Designed a warm, earthy visual language featuring category tabs (All / Men / Female), structured collections (Marcoub Engraved, Leather Hand Bags, Accessories), and clear promotional banners.
Usability-Driven Refinements: Conducted two rounds of usability testing that directly led to adding size selectors (40, 41, 43), enhancing pricing visibility, and simplifying product card navigation.
Secure Multi-Method Checkout: Built an end-to-end payment flow supporting multiple payment gateways (PayPal, Mastercard, Mbok, SyberPay Plus+) paired with email confirmation prompts and secure OTP authentication.

Building from Zero: Conceptualizing every screen, flow, and interaction pattern for a brand with zero prior digital infrastructure.
Handling Fashion Variants: Spatial planning for complex clothing and shoe attributes (size chips, color swatches, quantity steppers) on a compact mobile viewport.
Cultural Localization & Trust: Integrating local payment providers (Mbok, SyberPay Plus+) and implementing rich photography, star ratings, and clear return assurances to overcome the “buy without touching” barrier.

The Five Fashion mobile app design successfully bridged the gap between traditional artisanal craftsmanship and modern digital retail. By delivering a research-backed, end-to-end user experience, scalable design system, and a first-of-its-kind mobile platform in its competitive set, the project established a robust foundation for future digital expansion and regional scale.
